How to tell that a B2B presentation does not work

If the audience cannot quickly understand the problem, value, proof and next step, the presentation is not working well enough as a business tool.

Short answer

A B2B presentation fails when the audience has to figure out why the topic matters to them. A good presentation makes the decision logic simple: problem, impact, solution, proof and next step.

Seven warning signs

  1. The main message is not visible in the first 30 seconds.
  2. The slides talk more about your company than the customer problem.
  3. The value proposition is too general to repeat.
  4. Evidence is scattered or does not support the main message.
  5. Decision-maker objections are not addressed.
  6. There are too many slides or too much text.
  7. The final next step is unclear.

What to check yourself

For each important slide, ask: what should the audience understand, believe and do next? If the answer cannot be expressed in one sentence, the slide probably needs simplification.
